Install MemoraTab
A private memory for your browser. It remembers the pages you visit — on this device only — so
you can find any of them again, see where your time went, and pick up where you left off.
No account. No tracking. Your browsing history never leaves your computer.

Manual install, step by step
About two minutes. Works on Chrome 116+, Edge 116+, Brave 1.58+.
-
Download the MemoraTab ZIP
Use the Download ZIP button above. The file is MemoraTab-v1.0.0.zip.
-
Extract the ZIP
You get a folder called MemoraTab-v1.0.0. Keep it somewhere permanent —
your browser reads it every time it starts.
-
Open chrome://extensions
Type it in the address bar and press Enter. On Edge use edge://extensions, on Brave brave://extensions.
-
Enable Developer Mode
The switch is in the top-right corner.
-
Click Load unpacked
It appears on the left once Developer Mode is on.
-
Select the extracted MemoraTab folder
Pick the folder from step 2, then pin MemoraTab from the puzzle-piece icon so its icon stays in your toolbar.
Check your download
Every release publishes a SHA-256 fingerprint. If yours matches, the file was not altered on its
way to you.

Your history stays on your computer
MemoraTab has no servers of its own. Everything it remembers is stored by the extension on this
device, and nothing is uploaded.
- No account, no sign-in. Nothing to create, nothing to log in to.
- No telemetry, no analytics, no crash reporting.
-
Optional settings sync, off by default. If you turn it on, your browser's own sync
copies settings, workspace names and your default pin type between your browsers. Your browsing
history is never synced.
-
Optional AI summaries, off by default. Add your own OpenAI or Anthropic key and a
summary sends that provider a short, trimmed list of the pages involved — never your full
history, page text or notes.
-
You can see and delete everything. The privacy dashboard shows what is stored,
exports it, and clears today, one day, or all of it.
Questions
- Is the download the same extension as the Chrome Web Store version?
-
Yes — the same build, with the same permissions. The differences are how you install it, and that
a hand-installed copy does not update itself.
- Why does my browser say it is not from the Chrome Web Store?
-
Because you installed it yourself. Browsers show that for any unpacked extension. Verify the
SHA-256 above if you want certainty about what you installed.
- What permissions does it need?
-
Reading the current tab's address and title, storage for your memory on this device, the side
panel, and access to the pages you visit so it can read each page's title and a short extract for
search. None of it is sent anywhere.
- Which browsers work?
-
Chrome 116+, Edge 116+, Brave 1.58+, on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS. Planned but not
supported yet: Firefox — it uses a different extension API.
- How do I update a hand-installed copy?
-
Back up from Settings, then extract the new version into the same folder and press the
reload arrow on the extensions page. Keeping the folder path unchanged is what keeps your data.
- Can I move my data to the Chrome Web Store version?
-
Your notes, pins, workspace names and settings, yes — back them up, install from the store, then
restore. Recorded browsing history stays with the copy that recorded it.
- Does it work in private or incognito windows?
- No, on purpose. MemoraTab does not record them.
- Does it slow my browser down?
-
No. It writes a small record per page visit into its own local database, with no background
uploads and no polling.
- How do I remove it?
-
Extensions page → Remove. That deletes everything it stored on this device. Export or back up
first if you want to keep anything.
